Listening to Susanne Sundfør

I just discovered Norweigian singer Susanne Sundfør, via Mari Stolan's blog. Check out her album, "The Brothel" and take a look at the haunting video for the title track.
Currently listening to… Mumford & Sons

I'm currently really enjoying Mumford & Sons' new album, Sigh No More. The London-based band were formed in December 2007, and have an unusual mix of folk, rock and country, that has been compared to Kings of Leon and Crosby, Nash, Stills and Young (at least on their website). I get the same feeling from these guys as when I listened to the Fleet Foxes for the first time.
The Gregory Brothers, auto-tuning madness…
I have just spent the last 30 minutes watching The Gregory Brothers' brilliant and hugely funny videos, where otherwise banal news items, famous YouTube clips, and political debates are turned into farce with a little help from some liberal Kanye West-style auto-tuning. Go straight to their YouTube Channel to view all the other videos...
Scrumdiddlyumptious
Just found these great tracks and videos from a guy who works at Google's out of office responder (!). They are created by a guy called Pogo, who can be found on YouTube and MySpace.
If Aphex Twin was a little girl…
I haven't posted anything in a very long time but I think this video of a little girl's nonsense turned into some superb Aphex Twin-style nonsense is a perfect way to bookend the hiatus.
Shitdisco, “OK” - popup-book video
As part of a bit of research for a project that's going on, Lisa showed me this really nicely executed video.
Firekites video, by Lucinda Schreiber and Yanni Kronenberg
From Lucinda Schreiber, "We shot roughly 1900 frames... the frame rate varies between 12fps, 8fps and 6fps throughout."

Fever Ray, If I Had a Heart
I have only just got into Fever Ray (last.fm) - months after everyone else it seems - which is the solo project of Karin Dreijer Andersson from The Knife.
Particularly like this brilliantly dark and bleak video for If I Had a Heart.
The Field: Swedish minimalist techno

The Field is a Stockholm based DJ whom until about a month ago I had never heard of, but who is pretty up there on my most played tracks on my iPod. Take a look at his last.fm profile to find out a bit more, or check out this video by the brilliant motion designer, Victor Tarre:
Miranda Pountney sings Both Sides Now, Joni Mitchell
I posted this on Facebook a short while ago, but here it is again: a brilliant cover of a great Joni Mitchell track by my pal, Miranda. Please vote it up!
